Ways to Give

There are many meaningful ways to support the mission and vision of Sacred Heart. Whether you support our parish now with regular giving online or each weekend at Mass, or you’re looking for ways to leave a legacy that becomes a lasting expression of your faith, we’ve compiled examples below of ways you can make an impact for future generations of our parish.

Ways to Make an Impact in the Future

  • Donor Advised Funds: Donor advised funds allow you to easily recommend a grant in support of our mission by naming Sacred Heart as a beneficiary of your account.
  • Real Estate: If you have rental property, undeveloped land, or a second home you no longer need, this is a good option that can help defer or reduce capital gains taxes. You may also be able to give a gift of real estate while continuing to live in and/or use the property during your lifetime.
  • IRAs: Gifts from retirement accounts are a popular way to support our mission. They can be done in two ways: either through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (also known as an IRA Charitable Rollover) or a beneficiary designation which distributes the balance of the account when you no longer need it.
  • Life Insurance: If you have a life insurance policy that is no longer needed, you can transfer ownership to support our mission. If you choose to keep your policy but want to make a later gift, you can leverage your policy simply by naming Sacred Heart as a beneficiary.
  • Stock, Bonds & Mutual Funds: Gifts of stock, bonds and mutual funds can be some of the most advantageous ways of making a gift to Sacred Heart if the securities have appreciated in value over time and have been owned for more than one year. Gifts of stock can be given now or in the future by naming Sacred Heart as a beneficiary of your portfolio. They are tax-savvy, easy to transfer and may be designated to a specific fund or purpose.

Ways to Leave a Legacy

  • Will or Trust: Through a will or trust, you can plan a future gift to Sacred Heart after you provide for your loved ones.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities: Charitable gift annuities can help you maintain your current lifestyle, increase your financial security and pay you and/or a loved one income for life. Qualified Charitable Distributions can now be used to create a CGA.
  • Charitable Lead Trust: A gift through a charitable lead trust can help reduce taxes for your heirs and can be funded with cash, bonds, stocks, real estate and other appreciated assets.
  • Bank & Retirement Accounts: By naming Sacred Heart as a Paid on Death (POD) beneficiary, your bank and retirement accounts can be used to strengthens the long-term mission of our parish.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust: Your charitable remainder trust is a great way to provide yourself or your beneficiaries with lifelong income. The value of the trust will determine the income payment percentage that you or your beneficiary will receive annually for your lives. The percentage of payment can be up to 50% of the assets fair market value. Your trust’s assets will be valued on an annual basis to determine the amount you will receive. This gift also allows the flexibility of additional gifts if you wish to add to your gift at any time. When the contract ends the remaining funds will be transferred to the association and any other charities you would like to support, making a lasting impact.
