Ahead of the the Christmas season, on December 13, 2021, our friends at ABC Action News (WFTS) and Taste and See: Tampa Bay were invited to film our 117-year-old church like never before: with a high-definition drone camera.

Field reporters Zack Perry and Teyonna Edwards flew the drone through every nook and cranny of church, capturing breathtaking views of the altar, choir loft, sanctuaries and stained glass windows.

Participating in the filming were long-time parishioner and Sacred Heart docent Beryl Byles, and former pastor Fr. Stephen Mimnaugh. Byles provides a brief history of the church and a number of its aesthetic features, including a derivation of the famous stained-glass windows, while Fr. Stephen discusses the significance of Sacred Heart to its current and former parishioners, and the contrast to many of the Catholic churches found in Florida.

VU VI VO Tours Sacred Heart | Spring, 2026

Step into the church for a guided tour with longtime docent Beryl Byles, as she leads VU VI VO’s Zack Elliott to uncover the layers of meaning woven into every detail of our parish, from the radiant stained-glass windows to the architecture shaped with purpose and devotion. In Zack’s words, “Every window, every symbol, every act of generosity tells a story of faith, legacy, and a community that gave what they had to create something that would outlast them…”
